Day 05
Puno | Lake Titicaca | Uros floating islands | Taquile Island |Luquina Island

Our guide will pick you up after breakfast. A full-day boat trip on Lake Titicaca. We will visit the ancient culture of the Uros and set foot on their floating islands. The islanders will give us a presentation about their lifestyle on these man-made islands, built with reeds that grow on the shores of the lake. We will learn about their existence on these small islands and how they have adapted to these conditions. After strolling through the floating islands, we continue our trip to the island of Taquile (2 hours approx.) Here we will meet the Quechua families who will offer us a cozy Casa-Estancia-style accommodation while they prepare us traditional food for lunch.

After lunch, we will ascend to the two peaks of the island while we observe the daily routine of the inhabitants. At the top of the island, we will visit two ancient pre-Inca temples, Pachatata and Pachamama (father and mother cosmos). After your culturally enriching exploration, return to the boat that will take you to the island called Luquina. Your host family will meet you at the port of Luquina and take you to their home. What is the best time to do the excursion?

Peru is a very large country with many different climates, for that reason it would be very difficult to define a good time to visit different places. However, we consider that the best season is from April to December. From January to May is the rainy season, this does not mean that it is a bad time to travel. If you dare to travel in the rainy season you will be able to see something different from other days.

Where will the information session take place?

Our representative will meet you at the Cusco airport, while we take you to your hotel we will give you an overview of what you can expect on this 7-day tour. You could also do it at our office located on Calle Portal de panes, office 201 (second floor). Plaza de armas de cusco.
