Your unforgettable adventure begins today when we pass by your hotel early to pick you up and reach, after 20 minutes, the Inca site of Tambomachay (3,800 m / 12,467 ft). During this first section, we will pass through Sacsayhuamán, Qenqo and Puka Pukara. Tambomachay is where we will begin our trek and join the rest of the team: the guide, the rider who will lead the horses, and the chef. We’ll put your luggage on the horses and then we’ll start walking.
We will ascend for 3 hours until we reach the first step of our excursion. You will be able to enjoy impressive views of the city of Cusco and the surrounding mountains all along this part of the route. After another hour, we will arrive at Lake Qoricocha. This spectacular location is the perfect place to enjoy a delicious lunch and enjoy the beautiful surroundings.
After eating, we will ascend for 45 minutes to the second pass, which is the highest point of our entire trek (4,200m / 13,780ft). From here, the rest of the day is downhill. For 4 hours we will cross fertile valleys, a fabulous canyon and a part of the original Inca Trail. Our camp will be on one of the terraces of Huchuy Qosqo (3,600 m / 11,811 ft). Once there, you will enjoy a spectacular dinner and a well-deserved rest.
We will wake up very early to enjoy a fantastic breakfast at our camp this morning. Then you will enjoy a guided visit to the archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo. Your expert guide will teach you everything the site as you explore and enjoy the beautiful views of the valley.
Then we will descend for 2 hours to the town of Lamay in the Sacred Valley, where we will have lunch. Once we are ready and well fed, our transport will take us to the town of Ollantaytambo, we will lead you to the train station located in this same town and we will board the Voyager class Inca Rail train to Aguas Calientes (town of Machupicchu) . This trip will allow you to see beautiful glaciers and snow-capped peaks, as well as fertile green valleys and Inca agricultural terraces on both sides of the valley. At the end of the train journey at thbe Aguas Calientes train station we will be waiting to take you to your hotel where you will spend the night. Get settled in your hotel, After check-in you will have free time to relax this afternoon.

What is the best time to do the excursion?
Peru is a very large country with many different climates, for that reason it would be very difficult to define a good time to visit different places. However, we consider that the best season is from April to November. For the Huchuy Qosqo Trek, the hottest season is from December to March, but it is also the rainy season. That is why we think that it is more pleasant to do a sunny but cold excursion than a warm but rainy excursion. For this reason, we recommend doing it preferably between May and October. It should be noted that the Huchuy Qosqo trek is open every day of the year except in February, the month of road maintenance and heavy rains.
