HIGHLIGHTS:
We will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco at 7:30 am. Then we will go to Chichero where the Piuray Lagoon (3,800 m / 12,467 feet) is located, a beautiful lagoon, from this place the entire population of Cusco is supplied with water. The day’s hike will begin at this point and continue through puna landscapes and over the Hatun Luychu pass at 4,100 m / 13,451 ft, where we will have spectacular views of two valleys. You will see the capital of the Incas, Cusco, with impressive mountains surrounding it on your right.
We will follow the side of the valley from the hill, heading towards the top to cross to the other side. It is about a 120-minute walk to the upper end of the valley. Once we get there, we will cross a small stream that bisects the valley and head to our lunch spot. The landscape of the lake is quite arid because the entire area is a high puna between the mountains and is covered with resistant Andean grass called Ichu. It is possible to observe various birds, such as Andean geese, lapwings and partridges, among others. Next, we will continue walking until we reach the Puma Punku canyon (“the door of the puma”). At this point, we will walk along a part of the original Inca Trail, which has been restored as part of the Qhapac Ñan project. This road will take us to the isolated and truly unique Inca archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo, which means “Little Cusco” in quechua. It sits above the Sacred Valley of the Incas (3,600m/11,811ft) and is a truly fascinating place to visit.
Once you are inside the site, you will enjoy a guided tour and your expert guide will show you all the important Inca buildings in Huchuy Qosqo, such as sacred temples, warehouses, Inca terraces for agriculture, and the Inca reservoir used for storage during the dry season. afterwards, we will choose a comfortable place to enjoy our lunch.
After your guided tour of the site and tasty lunch, we will begin our 2-hour trek back to the town of Lamay (2,941m/9,649ft) along the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley. From there, our private transportation will be waiting to take us back to your hotel in Cusco.

Why should you do the Huchuy Qosqo trek with us?
What do I need to take to Huchuy Qosqo Trek?
What is the best time to do the excursion?
Peru is a very large country with many different climates, for that reason it would be very difficult to define a good time to visit different places. However, we consider that the best season is from April to November. For the Inca Trail, the hottest season is from December to March, but it is also the rainy season. That is why we think that it is more pleasant to do a sunny but cold excursion than a warm but rainy excursion. For this reason, we recommend doing it preferably between May and October. It should be noted that the Huchuy Qosqo trek is open every day of the year.
How many days of acclimatization do I need before starting the Huchuy Qosqo Trek?
