Found just a few years ago, in 2020, during the Covid-19 quarantine, Pallay Punchu is the third Rainbow Mountain in Cusco, after Vinincunca and Palcoyo, which has become popular on social networks. It is made up of spectacular and sharp edges and is not yet crowded, so do not miss the opportunity to take a day to explore this new and exceptional place to the southeast of the imperial city of Cusco.

HIGHLIGHTS:
This fascinating adventure begins when we pick you up from your hotel early in the morning. We will drive for two and a half hours on the way to Cusipata to have an energizing breakfast. Then we will continue along the road to Sicuani, admiring on the way the beauty of the blue lagoon of Langui, which extends over 15 km. We will stop at the shore before continuing our journey towards Layo, where the walk begins.
Once we are there, we will begin this challenging uphill hike for approximately two hours. We will walk along a path that crosses grasslands and impressive red earth accompanied by the typical fauna of the area: alpacas, llamas and, if we are lucky, kestrels, peregrine falcons or the famous condor that flies the andean skies. When we arrive at the Pallay Punchu of Apu Taqllo, which translated into Quechua means “knitted poncho”, you will have the chance to climb the sharp edges of the mountain and feel like you are flying over the surface of another planet.
This mountain stands out for its precise lines, perfectly sculpted by nature over millions of years. You will be able to distinguish different colors such as red, brown, yellow, green, magenta among others. While you enjoy the wonderful pigmentation of various shades, you can also lean over the edge to see even better the impressive Langui lagoon and a part of the Andes mountain range.
You will reach a height of more than 4600 meters above sea level, so we recommend that you acclimatize before your tour to avoid altitude sickness during the trip. We will return to Layo by the same path. We will stop again at the edge of the Lagoon to have lunch open air or, if you prefer, you can eat in a rural restaurant in Sicuani. Finally, we will return to Cusco to end this amazing adventure.
