Endless greenery, blue sky with clouds of unusual shapes blend harmoniously with the chocolate-colored waters of the river; swarms of parrots, macaws and egrets flying from one side of the river to the other, further on a pink flash in the water reveals the presence of a “bufeo” or dolphin daring the boatmen to come closer for a better quick view.

Our destination is Shansho Cocha, a meander-shaped lake an hour and a half away from the camp. Enchanting views along the way will reveal the uniqueness of this place; some of the highlights of this environment are the giant lupuna (Ceiba pentandra), capirona and capinurí (Heliocostilis scabra) trees and striking birds such as the toucan (Pteroglossus sp.), the scarlet macaw (Ara macao), the blue macaw and-The yellow macaw (Ara ararauna), the great egret (Egreta alba) and the Amazonian kingfisher (Chloroceryle amazona). Upon arrival at Shansho Cocha, you will observe the Hoatzin or “Shansho” (Opysthocomus hoazin), a bird with prehistoric features that nests and feeds on the shores of this lake. Return to camp and lunch.
