Description

Lares Trek is one of the most popular alternative treks to the classic Inca Trail. It doesn’t include as many Inca ruins as you see on the Inca Trail, but it more than makes up for it by offering a fascinating hike through magical landscapes and a much deeper look at local life in this part of Peru (a cultural element that not found on the classic Inca Trail trek). It’s also slightly shorter, but higher, than the Inca Trail, and you’ll see far fewer hikers along the route. Our 4 day Lares Trek to Machu Picchu takes you deep into the heart of the Andes, into a remote landscape of towering mountains, shimmering mountain lakes and jaw-dropping views. You will also experience the living traditions of the local people as we pass through ancient towns, meeting friendly Quechua people who will be happy to share their culture with you.

  • Enjoy a day away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
  • Get tips from a local
  • Hotel pickup included
  • Informative, friendly and professional guide.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR THE LARES TRAIL TO MACHU PICCHU 4 DAYS

IS FOR ME?

The Camino Lares-Machu Picchu 4 Days is an excellent alternative for adventurous tourists who are capable of traveling long distances at altitude. The highest point we will reach is known as Abra Pachacútec and is located at 4,700 m.a.s.l. / 15,419 feet. Although it is not too strenuous to go through there, it is important to have physical resistance and to have experienced a previous period of acclimatization in the city of Cusco.

HOW MANY DAYS DO I NEED TO ACCLIMATIZE IN CUSCO BEFORE THE EXCURSION?

It is very important to be well acclimatized to the altitude before starting the trek. We recommend that you arrive in Cusco at least 2 or 3 days before the excursion. This way you will avoid problems related to altitude sickness. Our company also has ideal tours that will help you comply with your acclimatization process:

  • MOUNTAIN OF 7 COLORS: Full day tour.
  • SACRED VALLEY: Full day tour.
  • HUCHUYQOSQO TRAIL: Full day tour.

If before arriving in Cuzco you have visited another area of Peru that is at high altitude, we still recommend that you enjoy a full day in the city to rest and recover. This way you will fully enjoy your walk.
